Frequently Asked Questions

Who sets oil and gasoline prices?
Energy Prices are set on the "NYMEX" (New York Mercantile Exchange) (Wall Street), not by major oil companies as most people believe.
What causes energy prices to change?
There are many factors that will influence oil and energy prices. Supply and demand are the biggest determining factors; it is what drives the supply and demand that causes unrest in the market. One good example is perception vs. reality, what may be or could be, such as a potential hurricane, the market will react long before there is a real threat of landfall. Geopolitical forces can affect supply causing upheval and price fluctations in financial markets worldwide.
Will I save money by calling for my oil?
No. People believe they can control their usage by calling in as oil is needed. In fact, creates more expense for the company delivering that oil in this way; for an automatic delivery customers using a 1000 gallons of oil per year, the company will schedule five or six deliveries filling the tank to capacity each time. In contrast, those who will call in typically order 100 gallons at a time requiring ten deliveries almost doubling the number of trips needed and therefore escalating costs.
How often should I have my boiler / furnace inspected and maintained?
Your heating system should be maintained yearly and inspected at least once a year, to insure optimum efficiency. You can save up to 10% on your fuel bills with a professional tune-up. Save up to 30% on fuel bills by upgrading to a new, high efficiency system. Enroll in a monthly payment plan (budget). This will allow you to spread out your heating oil payments over the course of the next 10 months.
How do I know if I need a new boiler?
If your boiler is older than 20 years you should seriously consider a replacement or upgrade.
What is the difference between a COD customer and an Automatic customer?
Customers on automatic oil delivery have their tank filled to full capacity on each delivery. The customer is able to choose either our 10 month budget program or our Pre-buy plan. A COD customer must monitor his or her own tank and call for each delivery, as well as required to pay the total cash amount at the time of delivery.
What is the minimum delivery amount?
The minimum delivery is 100 gallons in Manchester, and 150 gallons in surrounding towns. If your home is on a town line, your minimum delivery amount depends on which city/town collect your taxes.
